ImportError: No module named gimp

I've been trying to build Gimp from sources for windows using Msys2/mingw64 build environment. I got most of the stuff working, but now I'm stumped with these errors. Does anyone know if python&plugins even work with 2.9.x or am I just wasting my time?
I get no errors when compiling, but when I run Gimp, python-fu just doesn't work and gives 'No module named xxx' errors in my bash shell.
