hi
I am very new to GIMP and my GIMP skill is very limited. So far I just learnt how to start an image with assigned width and height, drawing a rectangular shape with stroke selection.... Auto-cropping a layer but I still have a mess and confusion with layer things ....

Would anyone help design and modify my logo ? (and let me know the steps to create it with GIMP?)

This is the logo draft I have created It's basically with three Chinese text and an English text. I like blue and I like the comic book text effect on the Chinese text..
I like the black edge around the Chinese text (however, I forget how it was made) but I don't want the text at the edge like being cropped out a little bit, if you notice carefully. I don't know how to smoothen it.

I would also like the border to change from mono blue to like those Chinese text's color.

Would anyone help design and modify the logo for me a little bit??

Kenny, could you post here the letters in separate? What is the size you want to get for them? and if you want them in a logo, what is the final size? We will need more information about how it is the Chinese text's colour, I think. :)

Hi Issabella, thank you so much :)
I've uploaded the text that I used as the raw to create the logo

I am not sure but if your computer can display Chinese text correctly, I type here , you may copy them directly.

What do you think of this?
If you like it I will post the XCF file.

Hi~ Thanks Wallace and Issabella,

Wallace, how did you make the edge of the Chinese so complete? Why there is some "loss" for my Chinese text at the edge if you notice.

If you can, I hope you can modify the design of the text KKCO a little bit, I have preference for bold text

Something more important is - I hope you can show or tell me the steps on creating the logo 1>2>3>4>5.........

Now I still have hard time handling layers, grid/guideline/aligning thing.
I still want to align the text perfectly.

Thank you so much again

Like this, I've circled by red color. A lot of "loss" after the comic book effect.
I don't like this, but don't know how to fix.

This is another logo I've designed and created with my very limited GIMP skill

I want to modify it a little bit, in terms of the design, any ideas?
it looks clean and simple , but I still feel like there is something missing. Any ideas??????

There are 20 layers and about 4 different effects used to make the logo.
It would be a full tutorial, to show you every step used.
I don't think you would be able to follow it, even if I created a tutorial on this for you.

I can post the XCF file and you can look it over and or save it as a PNG image, if you like?

oh my god my god oh my god... 20 layers to create that logo??

Any hints on understanding how layer works and getting started to familiar with layer things?? I always feel so uncomfortable with handling layer

so far the only thing I know about layer is - open as layer, auto-crop the layer , when there are too many layer, then I start to worry and merge down merge down and merge down..

but I know merge down usually finalize the part of the work , make it less able to modify

It's very important that you learn how to use Layers.

hi Wallace, can I use your layer xcf file to modify the text and color later?

because as I said, I will have more logo to make.

Yes,
you can have the files I've posted here,
do what you like with them.
That is why I posted them.

sorry I mean if I can "change" the text to other text?

i don't mean to modify the design by myself.
I mean to change the text, while remaining the design

Kenny, you should be familiar to layers firstly, as Gimp is mainly layers and layers to get any design. Wallace did a very nice work, you will be able to do the same by yourself if you invest time in any tutorial (Odin said) which will help you a lot. :)
