Can't free draw a curve without sharp turns

GIMP Version: 2.8.14
Operating System: Mac OS
OS Version: OS X
GIMP Experience: New User

Hi there,

I have a brand new Macbook with OSX and a brand new Wacom Intuos Pro tablet and I just can't free-hand draw any curved lines without these weird kinks and sharp turns in it.
I thought my brand new computer might have been too slow to handle the smooth strokes so I returned it and bought a new one with twice the RAM, but still the same problem occurs.
I'm only having this problem with GIMP as my tablet can draw out smooth beautiful lines on 'SketchBook'.
I've also tried downloading different versions of GIMP (including the specialised Mac versions from Partha) but I still have the same problem.
I've tried altering the smoothing but nothing has helped, and my stylus and eraser is already set to Screen under Input Devices.

What am I missing?

EDIT: Also, my tablet driver is up to date!

does the same thing happen when you use the brush instead of the pencil?

Yes

I used my mouse,
with the setting as they are it the image below.
You can try the same setting for your brush to see if that helps any.

Thank you for the idea, but it seems I still have the same issue :/
I've tried uninstalling drivers and reinstalling (and GIMP) and it still occurs

The Dynamics,
as seen in both your posted images.
Are set to Pressure Opacity.

Whereas in the example image I posted,
dynamics is set to Basic Simple.

Have you tried changing the dynamics to see if this helps?

a dear friend of mine suggested to check for and turn off View->Snap to Grid.
