Okay I am a new user with Gimp 2.8 I recently used the Path Tool to cut out an image so the background wont show, I am trying to take that image and use it with another image but when I pasted my cut out image as a new layer I see a shadow of the image and nothing else, PLEASE HELP!!! One other thing, I was trying to remove the color in the image I cut out, but when I choose desaturate nothing happens... This may be unrelated but also once I cut the image out using the Path Tool a dotted moving line surrounds my cut out, is this the way it is supposed to work? is there a way to remove the dotted line I guess? As you can see I am SUPER NOVICE and getting really frustrated with my failed attempts, ALL HELP IS WELCOMED, thanks a million!
Hi Lid Law and welcome to Gimp Chat.
Using paths is a good way to create a selection,
which my be use for this purpose.
It seems as though you want to remove the background form an image,
is this correct?
