I have a JPEG with photo and type. It loads into GIMP no problem but I want to export it to a file as a PSD file.
I go to File but Export is gone. I get Export As.

I open that and have the option of changing the file to PSD and export it to a folder on my desktop. But when I do, the file shows up in that folder, still as a JPEG.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,
Bry

If you attempt to save a file which already exists.
You should get this message,

" The file already exists.
Replacing it will overwrite its contents."
.

Are you sure that the .psd was not saved to another location?
Do you have Photoshop?

You can check your recently opened documents in Gimp.
To find out where this file is.
If it was in fact saved.

Also when I use export as.
I simply type out the file name along with it's file extension and then save.

Wallis! You again!

I was trying to spread the work load around. Anyway thanks for responding.

Yeah, I just downloaded Photoshop (Free Trail) because I'm having a bit of trouble matching up type fonts with my publishers software. They use Photoshop, of course.

I'm trying to get them to switch to GIMP, but they won't budge!

I thought if I could do my design in GIMP and the convert to a PSD file, and email it to them, it would make things easier for everyone. Hence my question.

Still working on my "Shorts" image. Every time I redo it, it gets better. Got your video right on the desktop! That's how often I refer to it.

Let me work on the file extension.

Thanks again...
Bry

Ok. Got it to work and emailed it. It should download right into their Photoshop software. Wait and see.

Thank you. This is great experience...
