Wallace, I believe I did, but with Windows 10, I may have done it wrong. I was used to XP where I knew how and where everything was. As far as 10 goes ?
Gretch
Pretty sure its the full install. I have the 64 bit
You guys got me pointed in the right direction though, I believe I found it.
Can I safely remove it without it effecting anything else?
As far as I can tell, I must have tried to load either a plugin or script that failed and I forgot about it
I have a bad habit of downloading scripts and plugins if I think they might be remotly interesting, and then stuff like this happens
As I said, everything in Gimp seems to work, and it just at startup where this happens, which is really annoying
If you have a version of Gimp installed, that isn't a off-shoot, of the original build.
Then Mathmap was not part of the installation.
I would also check for any duplicate plugins that might be present.
Check your user plug-ins and Gimp's installation plug-ins for anything which might be a duplicated.

By the way being that both of you are knowledgeable as far as gimp goes
Since using Gimp for maybe 4 years. Both of the PCs I have, My brushes and patterns disappear
The ones I make and paste into the brush or patterns file
All the versions of Gimp have done this.
Is there a limited amount of pasted brushes or patterns you can use?
This sounds like it could be something caused by your operating system or a combination of the OS and security software.
At one time I was using Norton Internet Security and it was doing a lot of strange things to my files.
My fonts were disappearing and or showing as invalid fonts and not showing up anywhere.
Have you tried to disable or shut off any security software, to see if this has any effect on the missing/disappearing files?
