Hi all... and thank you.
Here's my photo. And I'm rotating it for a more dramatic effect in the second attachment but as you can see, I lose a chunk of the black background by the girl's right hand. Can I get that back. Have tried re-sizing both the image and the canvas. But that doesn't help.
I'm sure it can be done, but still new to Gimp.

Thank you...
Bry

Which way are you rotating the image?

Have you tried, Image>Fit Canvas to Layers?

Hi Wallace. Good to talk with you again. I guess my second attachment didn't upload to the thread. Let me try once more. And no, I haven't tried Image>Fit Canvas to Layers... I will though.

I first added an alpha channel to the image.

***

Using the rotate tool :rot ,
I positioned the image where I wanted it.
Image

Once the image was in position.
I went to Image>Fit Canvas to Layers.
Image

This is the result after fitting the canvas to the layer.
With alpha channel added.

Thanx so much. Really enjoying Gimp and really glad you're there when I get stuck.
All best...
