I have been trying to make a text along an oval path inside an actual oval...but it never has the same arc as the oval itself. I have been using 'text along path' but are there any scripts (not plug ins) that would make it easier?

Can you post the xcf file of the end result?

Have you tried Lens Distortion,
Curve Bend or perhaps the Cage Transform Tool?

Here is a screenshot of what I have...as you can see, the arc of the text does not match the arc of the oval. All I need to do is find a way for them to match arcs. I thought there might be a script because try as I may, I cannot get the path of the text arc to match the path of the oval arc.

This is the best I could get it,
using plain old Text To Path.

The red lines you see,
are the paths used.
I made one path for the word Classic.
Then flipped that same path for the word Blend,
with only minor adjustments for the path used on the word Blend.

Is this more in line with how you'd like it to look?

i selected the oval, then did a shrink selection by 60, then while the selection is still there, i draw 2 arcs and text along those arcs.

You might want to adjust the kerning just a slight bit to resolve the small gaps.

I will try this out tomorrow. I had thought there was a script that aligned and kerned but I think it's wishful thinking!

Inkscape has that potential.

Usually crops up as a request to fix scrambled text-along-path but adding a carriage return (enter key) before or after text put the text above or below the path.

For ease, you do need to break up the oval path or make separate small paths.

Top text: Add a carriage return before the text. Keep the text box as dynamic (the other common screw-up is a large mostly empty fixed text box)

Bottom text: Put a carriage return after the text (and in this case a space for padding before)
Apply to a flipped path. Yes, that bottom path was not really needed ;)

However as mentioned before, for a nice crisp logo as the example - use Inkscape.

Have you tried a Monospaced font?

No time to learn inkscape, but one of these days I should do that. Meanwhile, I will be using the suggestions, and if I run out of time, perhaps I will borrow Trans xcf for an emergency use until I can master it myself. Thanks all, now if only I had more time!

Tell us what it is exactly that you need and we'll make it for you.
It's no big deal really.
I'm sure other would enjoy doing it as well.

If I get stuck, i will ask to have it made, but I actually would prefer to learn how to do it myself. Basically, I just need to get the text inside the oval matching the arc of the oval.

Here is my practice...I think it's pretty good...not so enthused with the font, but the arcs seem to match. Lots of trial and error to get it centered...is there no easy way? Please tell me if it looks as good as can be expected or am I missing something? Your opinions are important to me. I had to make the letters further apart, and not so sure the angles are good on each letter, but it's a start! Whew, lots of measuring and 'undo' to get this far!Image

Try to extend the fonts spacing,
for a better composition with the curve.
Use the available font tools to make your font fit.

IMHO the OP's request is not really doable, the curvature radius is too short compared to the text height. You need something like a 1:4 ratio and here it is a 1:2 one.

Thanks for that hint, of nuts. I will try it with a better ratio on the oval and see if that is acceptable to the group!

Inkscape will be worth the attention you give to it, 2-ton. It's helped me out of sticky situations with jar labels. Ahhh well, you deal with what you got, right?
