I'm trying to create a list and along a path but every time I use the Text along path method the text creates some sort of beautiful spiral. the idea would be to easily cause the list to wave. EX:

xxxx
xxxx
xxxx
xxxx
xxxx
xxxx

Is there a way to do this in Gimp 2? THANKS!

No, unless there is a script for this. What is called "text along path" is a different function (the line of text is distorted so that the baseline of the letters follows the "guide" path).

But either you have a few lines and you can do that by hand (one text layer per line) or you have a lot of text and you should be using a typesetting application like Scribus.

I think the forum software strips out surplus spaces. Best if you post an image of your intention.

You want something like the right side with text following the line of a path but text-along-path gives some thing weird, maybe like the left side.

Could be wrong but I do not think this can be done with text-along-path.

thanks for the help. I don't necessarily need to use text-along-path. just looking for any simpler way (and more accurate) than one line at a time.

maybe use guides? that should help


EDIT: 1.Create multiple guides (I used Add multiple guides in range but you can use others).
2.Then select View->Snap to guides (if it's not already ticked).
3.The just use the Text tool and select starting at vertical guide you want to add text to..and start typing.
4.Then repeat step 3. for other lines
and you'll have something like this.
