Hi there, I'm relatively new to Gimp, and was wondering is there anyway that I can get the pointer pixel coordinates (those displayed on the bottom left of the screen) to display as percentages of the whole image instead?

If this is not natively possible, are there any plugins that do this?

I found this at the Gimp Manual site - http://docs.gimp.org/2.8/en/gimp-image-window.html
you may be able to change it in 'preferences'

Pointer Coordinates: When the pointer (mouse cursor, if you are using a mouse) is within the image boundaries, the rectangular area in the lower left corner of the window displays the current pointer coordinates. The units are the same as for the rulers.

BTW welcome :)

I don't think that's possible but i could be wrong.
Maybe you can get away with using guides at certain percentages.

Good idea.

This won't help you change the pointer coordinates to % but you can to other units which may be helpful instead.
How to Change Ruler Units in GIMP
The GIMP graphics editing program places a ruler above and to the left of the images you are working on. You can use these rulers to measure parts of your image, draw straight lines, layout image components and create guides to help you position graphic elements more precisely. By default, the ruler is drawn using pixel or "px" units. GIMP allows you to temporarily change the ruler's units, however, to inches, millimeters, picas, points, centimeters, meters, feet or yards if you prefer.
Step 1. Launch the GIMP image editing application.
Step 2. Load the image you want to edit using GIMP's file manager.
Step 3. Click the units button in GIMP's status bar. The units button is not labeled, but you can find it at the bottom, left side of the image window, next to button used to change the image viewing size.
Step 4. Click on "inches" to change the ruler units from pixels to inches.
Step 5. Click on the units button again and change the ruler's units to centimeters instead.

Go to Image>>Print Size
Break the chain linking X resolution and Y resolution
Set the Width and Height to 100 mm

Then Choose mm as your units on the main window
