Hi everyone,

I am new to the board and to GIMP.

I am working a project that involves text lettering, I am satisfied with grunge font I selected (attached screencap). The font is a sharpie effect that appears hand written. I have searched for tutorials to enhance the text to give a more realistic appearance.

Does anyone know of a tutorial that I can view to make this thing better?

I am not sure what you mean by "enhance the text to give a more realistic appearance". The way I see it is that the appearance will be dictated by the font you have chosen. You obviously want something more but I am not sure what it is.

I think that is my problem. I can't define the problem. the text doesn't look realistic to me. I am considering using some brushes to make the text appear like it is was handwritten on the sign.

My suggestion is to try another font (or fonts) until you find one that looks more hand written. Using brushes is feasible if you have a tablet, very difficult if you are using a mouse.
