GIMP Version: 2.8.14

GIMP Experience: New User

List any ERROR messages you received:
TLS/SSL support not available; install glib-networking

I have just installed Gimp 2.8 and it's associated help download under Win 10. When I try to access the local user guide through the help menu I get the message "TLS/SSL support not available; install glib-networking". Can anybody advise what I have done wrong and how to fix this? Is it possible to download a pdf of the full user manual?

That looks like trying to access over the internet rather than a local help.

I did a quick video on installing a local help in Win 10

http://youtu.be/SWCujrZWuSs have a look and see if your installation conforms.

Then if using a web-browser swap to the built-in browser

Other than that, I find a PDF of the help just as useful. A very up-to-date PDF from http://gimp.linux.it/www/meta/ English version top of list. Searchable and with a good index.

I also experienced this error on Windows 8.1 (x64)

There are a couple of options to fix this.

Option 1.)

Open Gimp and go to Edit>Preferences on the menu. Select "Help System" in the left window and then under "Help Browser", change it from "Gimp Help Browser" to "Web browser".

---

Option 2.)

Download and install the offline Gimp User Manual (It can be found under downloads on Gimp website. Just scroll down).

Open Gimp and go to Edit>Preferences. Select "Help System" in the left window and, on the right under "User Manual", change it from "Use the online version" to "Use a locally installed copy".

Hope this helps.
