Hello,
I'm on Linux Mint Mate 17.1 and using a dark theme ( vertex dark).
It makes my GIMP interface dark, too, which is desired.
The problem is, that the levels tool misses the little handles for the dark end as you can see in attached screenshot.

Image

The green marked handles are there, the red ones are not ... though leveling works, but I have to guess where the handles are -- not soo handy.
So, maybe anyone here can help me get this tiny little indicator.

Cheers
nelo

Maybe someone can help with the theme but since it is a desktop theme maybe not.

I can see the left hand slider in your screenshot, black against very-dark but just visible. Your arrow is pointing to the wrong place.

Perhaps start it moving using the numeric input, just to get it moving and more visible.

I confirm what Rich says, the handles are rather clearly visible. It could be due to poor rendering of black by your monitor (or too much ambient light). Try this: http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/black.php On my laptop screen I can see level 2.

ok, you're right . I didn't notice before. Only now that I did a large magnifying.
It's more due to my eye-sight .-(.
There isn't a way to have those triangles in white ( for better contrast) is there?

Cheers nelo

It's not possible to use a theme to change the colour of the handles.

The colours used are hard-coded in app\widgets\gimphandlebar.c

So assuming it's the same in 2.9.xx, I would say that's a bug worth reporting, especially as 2.10 appears to be heading for using a dark theme as default.

I had a look at the Vortex-Dark, linux GTK theme, although in a xubuntu VM, that I use for Gimp 2.9.5

No effect on the Gimp theme so it must be as specified by the user.

This is the Gimp 2.9.5 04-Darker theme (default is 03-Dark) and while it is very difficult to see the left side slider all you have to do is click-and-hold anywhere in the slider section. Exactly the same in Gimp 2.8, no need to exactly hit the marker.

Why not try out some of the dark themes posted in the forum. Might find one acceptable.

I've tried a couple of dark themes already ... but as it's hardcoded it won't change. Of course it works, yes. But It's such a habit of mine that I like to see where that slider is.
Knowing it's hardcoded and I can't change it via theme settings is ok for the moment. Maybe the GIMP devs make it configurable for the future.

That was adjusted quickly. This from the latest otto-kesselgulasch gimp-edge ppa:
Not configurable, but outlined.

Some bugs have been waiting years for a fix ;)

pleased to see that.
How do I deserve such a quick fix?

Cheers
