I'm not sure what uninstall really means, I simply deleted G'MIC from my C/user/me/Gimp 2.8?plug-ins folder. Then I extracted G'MIC 1.7.9 into the same folder. I have re-started Gimp several times but my 'old' version of G'MIC is active. I include screen shots. I would be grateful for any help please.

Emperors Clothes. Who is going to say it first ;)

Your plugin folder is a mess. All those sub-folders.

Apart from that: You installed g'mic which is a stand-alone application. It does contain gmic_gimp.exe but if you use the correct windows installer for the gimp plugin it will install in the correct place which is C:\Users\your-name\.gimp-2.8\plug-ins Not in a sub folder.

Snag that David needs to look at, the 32 bit installer is broken, a zero size file

FWIW, my advice.
Look in the uninstall menu for any version of gmic and uninstall
Otherwise delete that gmic folder you have, look in C:\Users\your-name\.gimp-2.8\plug-ins and delete any gimp-gmic
Get the zip file http://gmic.eu/files/windows/gmic_win32.zip

unpack and copy all to C:\Users\your-name\.gimp-2.8\plug-ins

looks like this:

Yes; you either install or do the manual method like you did (as do I). Manually just extracting the zip file is my preferred method when it comes to G'MIC. :)

Thank you for all your help. Eventually I uninstalled Gimp, G'MIC, Gimp Massive and Gimp extensions,(that got rid of G'MIC 1.6) re-installed latest stable Gimp and G'MIC, bingo - all working fine :yes The zip file option I can understand but just a step to far right now, I used the G'MIC installer. I am really grateful for your on-going help and patience :tyspin
