How can I create spherical emaps like the one's below (I think it's got something to do with HDRi but when I googled this subject the technical words just baffled me) I have tried for 4 days now and any help would be gratefully appreciated, thankyou.

There is a script that can be used to help create e-maps.

Could this be the brush you're looking for?

I made this e-map using the image below.

Image

Image

I opened the image and scaled it,
so it was even in width and height.
Added an Alpha Chanel.
Then used,
Image>filter>Distort>Lens Distortion.
After that,
I added an elliptical selection,
inverted the selection and cleared the outside.
Then colorized it,
to get the spherical e-map seen in the image above.

Ran BRL from the Create Menu,
with default settings.

E Maps don't have to be spherical. Rectangular e maps work just fine. The important thing to note is that pixel in the top left corner must be 100% transparent. (The background colour is determined by this pixel.)
There is a thread on it here:
