Hi there,

I choose the letter A in the Toolbox.

It appears as a square/rectangular shape in the graphic. I can enter the Toolbox tool (name?) where it displays the font as Sans 18 in black lettering.

I can click on the Font size box and change it to 10 or whatever I choose and then click on the small black box in the lower right of that “adjustment box” (name?) and choose any color.

The problem is that when I start typing characters into that square/ rectangular shape it types only in black and only in 18 font.

How do I change the font size and coloring so it wont keep defaulting back to the default = black, size 18?

Also, what if I start typing in that square/ rectangular shape and I change my mined and wish to choose a different font size and color? How can I do that without having to retype all the text?

Thanks so much!

Sorry, can't post an image. Explanation will have to do.

There are 2 places where you can change text colour, size, etc.

1.
In the Tool Options below the tool box. This will change all the text you have entered. This is the one to use first.

2.
A small on canvas box. Select one or more characters and then use this box. Only the selected characters are affected.

Very tedious to describe, if you can absorb this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChcTE9KROmc&hd=1 quite short about 4 minutes is better.

Otherwise in words and screenshots.

1. There are two parts to the text tools, the tool box for global settings and the on-canvas tool for selected text http://i.imgur.com/j2hMjsW.jpg

2. For global settings
change the font http://i.imgur.com/Mka3RPV.jpg
change the size http://i.imgur.com/Ik8tLpI.jpg
change the colour http://i.imgur.com/7evKslJ.jpg

3. Then you can click in the on-canvas text tool and select groups of characters http://i.imgur.com/9FPaYST.jpg
changing the font can be tricky, type in part of the font name and choose http://i.imgur.com/Q5xQC69.jpg
size or colour enter a size / choose click in the tool and choose a color http://i.imgur.com/4oTnJ9a.jpg

4. Editing the text
click in the on-canvas tool, add / delete text as required. http://i.imgur.com/7HzZKU4.jpg

Select everything as you would like it to show when you restart next time, then
Go to Edit, preferences, toolbox, Click on save options now and save tool options on exit. I think you can do this with most things that have options.
To undo it, you need to go into preferences again and toolbox and click on 'reset saved tool options to default values.'
Just to change them each time do as rich & blighty said or use the text editor
