GIMP Version: 2.8.22
Operating System: Windows
OS Version: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
GIMP Experience: Intermediate Level

I've installed the Creators Update for Windows 10 and afterwards co-incidentally noticed that there is a new folder in the Program Files/GIMP2 folder called "_off" which contains "libgs-8.dll", I know this wasn't there pre-the latest version (I didn't notice it when I installed 2.8.22, but then again not sure I looked until now)
Is this file legit?

Cheers

EDIT, just found out: "libgs-8.dll belongs to the Gimp plugin of Total Commander Ultima Prime (TC UP)" - whatever that means :)

Normally the .dll file would be in the bin folder.
I'm running win10 without the creators update installed.

OK, thanks - and is that .dll file 12,412 KB or thereabouts? Weird how it got sent to it's own little folder... very peculiar but probably not worth worrying about I'm guessing.

libgs-8.dll is a ghostscript file (for opening eps files). There is already one in C:\Program Files\GIMP 2\bin which is a different size.
My guess, to do with the typical fix for the built in ghostscript not working.

example http://blog.tjitjing.com/index.php/2013 ... cript.html

Maybe the duff file moved out the way but not discarded.

OK, well moved it back to the bin folder - everything seems normal anyway so no problemo.

Not too sure that you should have done that, it is probably the old (no good) file. Open a .eps file and see.

As suspected it is the fix for opening postscript (.eps) files in Gimp

This after installing Gimp 2.8.22 - straight on top, no need to uninstall 2.8.20 http://i.imgur.com/yHIAlUx.jpg

Well, I opened an EPS file with no problems with 2.8.22, so moving the file doesn't seem to affect anything, let me see if I place it back in the _off folder (will have to re-create it first)...... That work fine too (re-started GIMP to make sure)... OK well I'll leave it as is. Or not - decisions, decisions !!
