Hi everyone,
so I recently bought a Wacom Cintiq 13 (The only stylus one, without touch inputs) and I'm trying to make it work with GIMP 2.8.22.
I managed to activate it though "Input Devices" and when I start to draw it works just fine.
The problem is when I use any of the physical buttons of my Cintiq, for example I have one for Undo, one for Zoom in, one for Zoom out, one for pen tool, ecc...
As soon as press one of those buttons it perform the right function of the button, but when I try to draw after that GIMP automatically switches to the Core Pointer input device, the result is a ugly drawed line with no pressure sensitivity because GIMP thought i was using my mouse instead of the stylus.
I also found out that to "fix" it after I press the physical button I have to mess a bit in the UI (for example trying to change tool by clicking them a few times with my stylus to switch back to it and draw normally...
Also, to make it even more a problem, it doesn't do that always.
For example:
-I open a new blank image
-I draw one line correctly with the stylus
-I undo it with the cintiq button
-I draw another line correctly with the stylus
-I undo it with the cintiq again
-I try to draw a line but it switches to the core pointer and make a mess.

I discoved that it was swapping the input devices by opening the "Device Status" dockable window and watching it in real time as it switches between the devices.
I tried vary functions/different buttons too but all leads to this problem.

Please Help
:(

I've been using the same Wacom Tablet for years now.
Granted I don't use it that often,
but when I do all that is done,
is for me to plug it in and I'm off drawing.
No need for me to do anything,
other then just plugging the device in and opening GIMP.

I know that this isn't very helpful in regards to your issue.
However,
this may sound odd...
but have you tried resetting the input back to default,
to see if the device works out of the box without any changes?

Oh, i forgot to say that I tried other programs too like Krita and the Cintiq works perfectly on those, so it must be a problem in Gimp...

I don't use a wacom but have you tried to only use the gimp settings for gimp? You set it up so it would work a certain way for gimp. So keep using it's settings.
