I'm trying to make seamless tile sets in Gimp.

The theory goes, I have a bunch of small parts/images of lets say stones, and I want to copy/paste these into a larger image and layer them until I have a stone pathway tile. So if I drag a stone to the edge of the larger image how would I make the other half appear on the opposite side (so the tile becomes seamless).

The easiest way is to fill the image, staying away from the edges, then do an offset x/2 and y/2, then fill in the new area. This does lead to gaps sometimes, so even more effective is to do an offset x/3 and y/3 fill in the gap then offset x/3 and y/3 again and fill in the gap again.

I've got a mini-tutorial somewhere if my directions aren't clear.

Thank you.

I think I may be able to figure that out, but if it's not too much trouble could you post the tutorial anyway.
