GIMP Version: 2.8.14
Operating System: Windows
OS Version: Windows 7
GIMP Experience: Basic Level

My H610 isn't working now. I guess since the last update I did? It worked before...as long as I had it running before I started GIMP...I was good. Now, I do everything as before and it won't track. I can tap it and get a result...but if I try to move..the cursor just stays where it last was. I've also just installed the latest drivers for the tablet as well. It works just fine with paint etc.

Any suggestions?

What type of updates are you referring to?

GIMP is now at version 2.8.20.

Can you uninstall any of the most recent updates,
which you're referring to?

I "think" this happened when I went to 2.8.20...from 2.8.16? I believe. I didn't use my tablet right away, after install. But that's my guess. I'd hate for that to be the case...being forced to go backwards:(

Have you checked,
Edit>Preferences>Input Devices>Configure Extended Input Devices,
to see if the tablet was still properly configured as before?

Yes, I've tried all three options...I believe "screen" is the setting it supposed to be on? Either way, none of them seem to make a difference. Do you think it's something that a complete reinstall could fix?

Instead of a complete reinstall of GIMP.
I would first suggest creating a new GIMP User Profile.
To see if this has any effect.

The next step I would suggest,
is to Rollback the tablet's driver.

Ok....the Profile reset didn't fix the problem. As far as rolling-back the tablet driver...it was my original driver that "was" working and then stopped. (which is why I looked for a newer driver to install) I'm not clear on where you're suggesting I roll-back to?

Didn't you say,
that you updated the tablet's driver?

However,
I seem to think that the latest version of GIMP,
isn't compatible with the tablet's driver.

I've been using the same Wacom tablet for quite some time and have never had any issues with it.

Tablets have always caused many problems,
when used with GIMP.

I've yet to solve any of these issues,
others have been having.

So, I guess it's "rollback GIMP", get a new tablet or switch to Photoshop...lol

It's always hit or miss,
with tablet drivers and Gimp.

However,
don't be so hasty in making any changes just yet.
Someone else may come along with a suggestion,
which might work.

Will do. Thanks you for the suggestions...they're greatly appreciated:)

BTW...after going back and forth between fresh installs of 2.8.20 and 2.8.16...I've stopped with 2.8.16 for now. It seems to work.

Question...is it ok to use my "up to date" user-profile (from 2.8.20)? It has my theme, preferences and all my brushes and plugins. It seemed to load ok.

That's nice to hear.

As for the profile...
I wouldn't transplant any user profile entirely,
but I don't foresee any issues with using some of the resources.
Such as:
Brushes, Patterns, Preset files, Plug-ins and the like,
as well as the theme file.

A bit of a bump as it's related and i didn't wanted to create a new thread just for it.

As i recently acquired a Huion tablet that was very cheap for its very good quality, while Krita or Photoshop had no problem with it, as i was using Gimp 2.8.20 , i ran into the same problem as probably anyone using this kind of tablet has been running into with that version of gimp.

Basically while the pen and tablet have no problem to move the cursors or select options within gimp, there's no drawing done at all.

I found out that in Edit -> Configure Input Device , for the 3 huion listed entries :
Huion tablet erasure
Huion tablet pressure stylus
Huion tablet puck

The "Mode" at those 3 entries was set to "Disabled" , after setting them to "Screen" like the "Core Pointer" is set to , i finally could draw in this version of Gimp.

Now other problem : it looks like how Gimp manage the pressure with that tablet is really bad, as by example to obtain a +/- max opacity draw i nearly had to near-impale my tablet , as i was valuing a bit my tablet life i decided to change the responsible setting instead :D

So to solve the problem, i had to go back to Edit -> Configure Input Device and at the Huion Tablet pressure stylus entry, at the "Pressure" setting, i tweaked the pressure graphic curve so i wouldn't have to press my stylus that hard.

So for people with Huion having trouble with their good tablet in gimp and still want to use gimp 2.8.20 instead of going back to an older version of gimp or ditch it completely and move exclusively to krita or photoshop, it's worth a try as it worked for me.
