Very old dark grainy photo

I followed several old topics and links from 2013 - 2015 on this subject to try to repair a photo I have to repair. The steps to add a Gaussian Blur and degrain worked... but not even close enough.

Could anyone please share tutorials or videos that would help me repair this image? TIA

I tried to improve your photo.
I used lots of strategic smudging :smudge

,
ran Selective Blur a few time during the process and also used the Clone tool :clone

quite a bit.

There was also the need to make guesses,
as to what was near and around the right arm.
I extended the curtains to fill-in the area behind the right arm.

This isn't a perfect rework/touch-up,
and there isn't really any one filter or script that might do such reworking.
It's hit or miss most times for me.

Thank you, Wallace, for your time and thoughtful assistance. I did however want to learn more myself so I could practice with an old box of family photos. Many are worse. I wanted to bring it a little lighter and possibly remove sepia and go to black and white. Thank you again.
