Synth design - how do I create text in a lit up box

Operating System: Windows
GIMP Experience: Experienced User

I am developing a VSTi synth and am trying to design a nice GUI but I can't think of how to make the name, "Huldra" look like it is part of a lit up display. Any ideas?

I would use bevel reflect logo for Huldra. If you don't have the correct environment map, you could use a chrome one, then alpha to selection the result, create new layer, fill with the correct color purple, and set the layer mode.

Hi Erisian - a synth is a nice project. I did this quickly with G'MIC Lights and Shadows > Light Glow and played with the sliders (like a synth:)

The Warrior - I hadn't thought of Bevel Reflect Logo. Nice idea.

Tas_mania - I like that. Ilike the gloss on the letters. I might play with that idea.

I actually tried playing with several layers and different effects and layer modes and came up with this:
