Hello
I saw that the Color Balance tool helps adjust values selectively for 3 categories - Midtones(medium pixels), Highlights (Bright pixels ) and Shadows (Dark pixels)
Are these defined by absolute values or do they vary depending on the image? How can gimp/we differentiate one from the other?
Thank you

Thank you. I had visited this link before posting. I couldn't find out from it if for an image:
a. we categorize the component pixels as midtone, highlight or shadow based on absolute pixel values (e.g. is a pixel with value in the range (0,0)-(65,65) always a shadow pixel)
OR
b. the categorization is done based on the total range of pixels that make up the image (e.g. for an image with pixels in the range (0,0)-(90,90) only pixels in the range (0,0)-(30,30) are considered shadow pixels)
Or am I missing some basic concept that I need to understand first?
Could you please guide?
