I've been making PNGs and centering the design exactly with the Guides. But then I want to place them on a template which has a line for the exact center and when I move the PNG, the Guide disappears of course. So I'm guessing where the center of my PNG should be which is total amateur hour. Does anyone know how I can find the center of my moved design so I can lay it directly on the center line of the template?

Thanks in advance.

If you have View>Snap to guide, the center of the moved layer will snap to the guides when you get close enough (8px, by default, IIRC).. No guesswork and no muscular accuracy required. And if you have two crossing guides it will snap on their intersection.

And maybe be you should do it a bit differently:

1) create the guide near the center
2) move the template to center it on the guide, using it marked line
3) move the layer
4) Image>Fit canvas to layers

When you use the Move Tool on a layer.
If you click on the canvas,
of the layer to be moved.
You should see a center cross hair,
which marks the center of the layer.

If your png is cropped to content, and you're aligning to the center of the template layer, where do you need guides?
Align tool (Q) can align the png relative to active layer.

I didn't explain this adequately ... I am using a mug template so there are two sides and I need to find the center of each side rather than the center of the entire piece, which I know how to do.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
