Hi to everybody, new here, new to Gimp, my first post. I have spent a whole day going mad trying to find the plugin folder so that I can load Da big gimp plugin which I have just purchased. Every post says that it is edit/preferences/folders/plugins. but there is no folder called plugins under the folder heading. all there is are two folders called temporary 2.10 and swap 2.10, both are empty. I would appreciate any help on this. My OS is windows 10.

That is the wrong directory you getting the error. The right directory is:
C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Gimp\2.10

Did you really buy a gimp plugin?

The Gimp plug-in Da Big ...something-or-other Ask for a refund while you still have a chance ;) Assuming that you are not using Gimp 2.8 but are using Gimp 2.10

...and more generally

(1) In Gimp. Open the menu "Edit -> Preferences" and expand the "Folders" section at the bottom, The entry gives the plug-ins folder location: usually C:\Users\"yourname"\AppData\Roaming\GIMP\2.10\plug-ins

Note this is a hidden folder and you might need to un-hide it

(2) Go and find that folder, put the plug-in (something.exe (+ any associated dll's) or something.py in that folder. Remember that you might need to extract the file(s) if you downloaded a zip file.

Maybe you are trying to use a plugin in a 2.8 gimp that will only work for a 2.10

List any ERROR messages you received:
windows can't find find C:\Users\15027\AppData\Rpa,omg\Gimp\2.10\plug-ins Check the spelling and try again
