I'm having trouble with the Alpha to Selection feature.. well, More of the floating selection in it.. So I do all the work, fill in the outline in the selection, but the floating selection is still there, and I can't seem to make it go away.. I can't anchor it, I've tried clicking outside the selection, creating a new layer hasn't helped either.. I also tried clicking on a different layer, then clicking in said layer, but I get the message "The selection does not intersect with the layer".. Please someone help

The "floating selection" is a temporary layer, same name, but different concept....

Alpha to selection creates a "selection mask" (what is usually called "the selection"). If you want to get rid of the selection mask, use "Select>None".*

PS: why are you still using 2.8.14? Latest is 2.10.14, and there are lots of improvements...
