 Post subject: Blank/transparent replaced by bg colour, why ?

GIMP Version: 2.10.14
Operating System: Linux
OS Version: Ubuntu 18.04
GIMP Experience: Basic Level



It is happening since the last couple of days. I am not sure if I messed up something. But when I cut out a part of the image, instead of transparent chess board like boxes, it shows bg colour. It was not like that before. Kindly help me put those boxes back.

Ya gotta right-click on ya layer and 'Add Alpha Channel'.

Thanks. But earlier, chess boxes would come by itself. I wonder what has changed. It is just a bucket fill I used ( in the image ).

Update : Adding alpha channels works.
