GIMP Version: 2.8.14 Operating System: Windows GIMP Experience: Intermediate Level
I just updated to the 2.10.14 version. I opened an .xcf file I had saved from a few weeks ago, set at 300ppi. I exported it as a .jpg file. But when I opened the jpg, the resolution had automatically changed to 72ppi. I tested it out a few times trying different things to see if I could get it to stay at 300. But nothing worked. On the previous version, once I exported, the resolution remained the same as it was set in the .xcf. I have been looking up the issue and I found a forum with a few different users experiencing the same problem. The posts had been marked as "Solved." I went to see the solution and what I can do to fix it....but I have NO CLUE what this person is saying. I can't even determine if his answer was saying it was a solution or if I am just out of luck! Is there anyone here that can help decipher what this guy says are the steps I need to fix this problem? I am extremely frustrated right now. I have been working on this for hours, and I was supposed to email a customer his files earlier tonight & I can't figure this out. Here is a copy of what the guy on the other forum said:
commit e7478071e8fdc05f8e292fa37efd38b2b8b18969 (HEAD -> gimp-2-10, origin/gimp-2-10) Date: Fri Nov 8 13:40:12 2019 +0100
Issue #4194: resolution passes from 300ppi to 72ppi after saving. We are running gimp_image_set_imported_file() when saving, with NULL to drop the tie with the imported file. Let's only change the default resolutions when we actually set an imported file. Also set the `resolution_set` flag even when it doesn't change the current values (hence no undo or signals), for instance setting from 300 to 300 PPI. In such case, even though nothing changes, the resolution has to still be considered as explicitly set. In the reporter case, any one of these 2 fixes is enough. See also commit fef9b1d2a3 (set to 72 PPI as default for imported files only) and commit a8f552da2fb (set imported file to NULL). (cherry picked from commit 417bf199c82481e85188d72862b70f85113e5fb7)
