Hello and sorry for probably a numb question.

I'm making a map and filling it with names of cities and places. Previously the texts were nice and clearly readable.

But then either some auto-update, or I mistakenly changed some settings, which causes all newly created texts to behave very differently - they are now much more transparent and far less readable.
Attachment:
File comment: here you can see the older texts - most of them also in very small font (8), but nicely readable. On the contrary the texts in red frame are all very badly readable, although many of them are in larger font (9) than I need.

Could please anyone help me to find out what have been changed and how could I adjust it to make those texts sharper again?

Thanks very much in advance for any advice.

Set the layer mode to "Normal (legacy)". This is the small icon at the right of the Mode selector, for "Legacy" mode you get WIlber's head. The new Normal mode applies opacity a bit differently and this makes small text look thinner.

Thank you. It helped a little to make the text slightly more visible, but still far from what it was before.

Could there be any other trick?

And even if not, is it possible to do this in some general settings, because I am going to fill several thousands of these small texts, and changing it manually in every single of these new layers could get little annoying.

I happen to have a script for this: ofn-layer-modes that you will find here. No specific documentation. Install as instructed at the bottom of the linked page, the script appears at the bottom of the Image menu.
