Hello Everyone,

I am very new to GIMP so please have patience :) I am looking to do a few things with images and then burn them with a laser engraver. I have some coasters that are 4 inches by 4 inches so when I click on new I set that as my height and width. When I drag in the image I want to use it is smaller than the four inch by 4 inch square. Is there a way I can enlarge it to make it fit those dimensions?
Sorry if this is an obvious question.

What are the image sizes that you are dragging into the new 4 x 4?

Gimp works in pixels, hence have a look also to the value of PPI when creating the image.

Anyhow, if you have a layer smaller than the image size,
to enlarge it use the scale tool and drag the corner(s).

Only if the image he is moving is suitable in size to do so, otherwise it will pixelate to a point its not usable. Which is why I asked about the sizes.

The "image size" questions comes up so frequently that Ofnuts gave a reasonable guide to the fundementals.
