What is it supposed to do?
I haven't seen it before. Only makes my whole canvas the one pattern. Even if I select an area it still makes the whole canvas the one pattern or background colour.

Sallyanne - I cannot see this filter in Filters>map in my GIMP. One of your own additions perhaps?

I dont make filters but I did download a whole lot of Rod's scripts but they all came under his name in my menu. I first saw it in the 2.10.20 version.

I have GIMP 2.10.20 by Samj.
There is no filter 8 motifs in Filters/Map.

PS. Well, as usual, Samj releases the version after many tests and fixes, so my release is really 2.10.21

I htink I got this one from the gimp website and it is revision 1

There is no 8 motifs - pattern, it is probably a plugin or script you had previously installed.

Strange - it's not under scripts or plugins. - I will see if I can find the file for it and who created it.

Looks like a Samj filter. and it was created in 2013 by the looks

I cannot see which version it was made for but maybe it needs updating?

Sallyanne, I have a couple of plugins that did not worked with previous 2.10 versions that are showing in this new version and they are working now.

Been away for the weekend so just tried it now.

Might have to have a bit of patience with this one until you get the patterns - in the correct sequence for a certain picture.

From rich2005's example it looks as if it's supposed to mimic the pencil feature in FotoSketcher.

It can be anything you want, all depends on the patterns chosen, I happened to be using a 'hatching' set of patterns at the time.
