Hi, I found this very nice video to convert brown skin to fair skin tone. In fact, I am aiming to use a less darker brown skin tone in my work than what is in this picture. While the video is very helpful, it is based on PS and not in English as well. It is ok about language, but it would be nice have a GIMP version of this video. Even text description will be awesome. Thanks.

nice...Have you tried levels in gimp. Or if you want to select the skin area - add a duplicate layer of that area, colourise then use the layer mode HSL colour?

Thanks @Sallyanne. I chose the Mask option at the bottom right

But after following everything and getting a bright skin, the mask goes away. I am not able to save the modifications. :(

I tried this one. Didn't managed to get the results when I tried.

The video does something like this
make selection (using PS equivalent of quick mask)
Copy selection
Paste as a new layer
Put new layer into some mode (screen?)

example: https://i.imgur.com/eXh9uQz.mp4

..but IMHO a better way for that is a duplicate layer (in screen mode), layermask and paint in the required areas. Give some leeway for corrections.

..dont know why but always useful when you get a result to use "Layer -> New from visible"

Thanks. Method 1 is clear now. I will try the alternate method too. :)

Using Screen mode is a quick and easy way to change the color from a darker shade to a lighter one.

But with curves it is also possible to obtain good results.

In the image on the right I used two curves, one on the original image, and the second on the result obtained previously.
I got an even better result by applying the Dark Only mode over the photo of the directory (obtained with curves).

Hi Sally,
Using screen mode; although easier, it may not always be the best option.

For lighter skin (or other objects / environments, etc.), the use of curves can give better results - Although it is always a matter of taste.

In the image below, from left to right *:
►Original image;
►Image with screen mode.
►Image using curves, in normal mode.

* Note: mask used to apply the change only to the skin.
