The problem started after PC system re-installation, I have this problem in Gimp and I don't know how to solve it.
I have installed Samj's package 2-10.23
Please I need your help if you can give me a guide or tip to solve it.
when I go to save a photo in jpg (ext) I have a notice of no permission.
when I save the same photo with png extension then there is no problem and I can do it.
What can I do to solve it?
Thanks a lot.

Did you check the "permissions" your have for the file you are talking about?
Maybe it has only "read" permission.

If GIMP portable is not in your PC, then you need to give permission to the external Drive.

How do I change permissions on a USB drive?

1. In the Properties window, click the Sharing tab.
2. On the Sharing tab, click the Advanced Sharing button.
3. On the Advanced Sharing window, click the Share this folder checkbox.
4. Click the Permissions button.
5. In the Permissions window, click the Everyone entry, if not already selected. In the Permissions for Everyone section, make sure the Allow checkbox is checked for the Change entry. If it's not checked, check the box.
6. Click the OK button on the Permissions, Advanced Sharing, and Properties windows to save the permissions change.

Thanks Pocholo. Sorry if I explained myself wrong. I have portable gimp in PC.
Anyway, I am going to check each step you say. I'll let you know if I've got to solve the problem.
Thank you so much.

No luck, I did what you said to me, but it doesn't work.
I think that the problem is based mainly in extensions of image. (png yes but jpg not)
Thanks a lot.

I can add a bit more information about the problem I have about extesions saving an image.
I can always open a .jpg image, modify it and to save it as .png and also as .gif (no problem those two extesions)
But I can't open an image modify it and save it in JPG or JPEG extensions.
Or simply, open a image jpg and save it without doing something in it

It's really a problem because any image in png weights a lot. I don't know what is wrong.
Please, if someone can give light to this, it'd be very appreciated.

That's a very strange problem. Could it be Gimp 2.10.23(samj) portable is the culprit? Maybe try version 2.10.22? Odd numbered versions are experimental, while even numbered versions are considered stable.

Samj's versions are always odd, because Sylvie releases her versions after the official Gimp release and applies fixes on the fly.
Also, that version was running on Issabella's PC before the System re-installation.

I run that version, And you were running that version before the PC System re-installation.
"Something" should have occurred during the PC System re-installation, but I'm not an expert (lost a function related to store .jpg?).
Hopefully Rich will read this thread and suggest his recommendations.

I have had similar problems in the past when running a new or updated program. Seems to happen with portables. It always turns out to be my antivirus program blocking the program being called. You could try disabling the antivirus program temporary when you do the save.

Same as sallyanne's problem viewtopic.php?f=8&t=19033&start=0

which turned out to be the AV.

Looks like the JPG file plugin is sandboxed/blacklisted by the system.

Issabella, did you resolve your problem with saving a .jpg? Are you using Ofnuts CollectionManager plug-in? My original copy did not have .jpg or .JPG included where it states which extensions are included. Just add them in where the others are in the script, both upper an lower case so you do not have to worry which one is used. I hope this is a help to you.
