Fuzzy select tool

GIMP Version: 2.8.14
Operating System: Windows
OS Version: 10
GIMP Experience: Experienced User

Any idea why the fuzzy select tool sometimes does not work in an obviously selectable area.
When I click in a selectable area it says in the message at the bottom "move the mouse to change the threshold"

Can't tell from the info provided. Can you provide a screen shot showing the image and Tool Options for the Fuzzy Select tool.

That is the way the Fuzzy Select tool works. Click-drag to the right to increase the threshold, to the left to reduce the threshold.

But then I click on a potential region and it just changes the threshold! i.e. no selection.

Solution - I needed to select the transparent area option!
