I used the selection tool to define a circle and saved it to a path.

I removed two segments from the circle, leaving two arcs.

I've duplicated the path.

I now want to edit the paths to remove an alternate arc from each.

I've managed it before, but forgot how. (I seem to recall seeing a Path icon as one of the modes offered the Tool Options tab of one of the tools, but don't recall the tool. EDIT: that turned out to be on Tools->Transform->Flip, as one example.)

Please help. Thank you.

Continued searching online and found a reference to ofnuts' Path-Edits tool.

Installing ofn-path-edits.py into .config/GIMP/2.10/plug-ins and using Filters->Script-fu->Refresh Scripts made it visible on a menu.

On the Paths tab, highlighting the undesired part of the path and right-clicking on the path brings up a Paths menu which allows one to click Tools->Delete Strokes.

Done.

Thanks again ofnuts, for this functionality from 2016.

Just a note for other users, it is not absolutely necessary to use a plugin for this. The Gimp path tool can add a control point (Ctrl-click) or delete a control point/path segment (Shift-Ctrl-click)

As this 30 second demo: https://i.imgur.com/8yMtR7Y.mp4

However Ofnuts path-edits plugins does contain other useful functions such as breaking a path apart and reversing stokes + much more.

It is still worth knowing how basic Gimp works

No, not absolutely, but the motivation for using a plugin would've been obvious if the massive collection of nodes on the paths had not have disappeared the moment I switched to the Select tool. :)

I did in fact use the basic functionality to delete two segments from the circle to make two arcs.

Thanks for highlighting the basic way to go about it.

You are correct, it can be tedious to manually delete parts of a path, especially when the path is created from a selection.

Just for info, more tools for paths here: http://kmarkku.arkku.net/

Check out section 3 "Plugins to crop or slice paths" Might come in handy sometime

Wow. Check out ALL the sections. I didn't have any inkling some of these could even be done.

And, I'll second your sentiment to new users to acquire plug-ins and scripts while they can be had. It's common for people to recall seeing a filter which later has become hard-to-find. I'll certainly be getting these.
