Hi doron2. Does the Python-Fu console come-up when you click it?

If it does it means python2 was installed maybe as a dependency of Resynthesizer.

The issue I have with flatpacks and snaps is that it adds more packaging systems to either a Deb-based system or an RPM-based system. Some would say 'the more the merrier' but with many packaging systems it sets-up an evolutionary contest to see which one dominates IMHO.

Python2 does come with the flatpak Gimp installation. It is a way to get those python plugins working with out much problem. This is a listing of an installation in Mint. A bit on the old side, I do not know the current state of the 'special' plugins (2) , some are/were 'legacy' depending on Gimp version. Generally user installed plugins (like ofnuts plugins) go in ~/.var/app/org.gimp.GIMP/config/GIMP/2.10/plug-ins ie, well buried ;)

Why do I not use it ? Apart from the bloat. I want to use my scanner - no xsane - with flatpak. Gutenprint ? Does this work with a flatpak, probably not.

What do I use ? kubuntu 22.04 / Gimp 2.10.32 (PPA) / appimage Gimp launcher. looks like this https://i.imgur.com/fWY3ezt.mp4 first no python then with python.

But, linux is great, always something to suit user requirements.
