Hello Gimp chatters,

I have a large monochrome area on a poster and would like to structure it. I have attached an example of how this can look as a background:

Can I do this with Gimp onboard tools and if so, how does it work? I have already tried various filters, especially "Artistic", but all with very unsatisfactory results.

Kind regards
Fredus

You can try a Bump Map with a suitable pattern.

(attached zip contains the xcf)

Please define "and would like to structure it"...
You want to add a texture on it? No? Give some "volume"?

"I have already tried various filters, especially "Artistic"", any filters in "Artistic" will disform, transform, recolor, and so, your image... > in the artistic way.
This category is for Artists! Certainly not for your needs ;)

Thank you very much! This was exactly what I was looking for - the Bump Map. Didn't know this tool before! Now with experimenting and adding further effects, I am approaching the original pattern step by step.

Kind regards
Fredus
