GIMP Experience: Basic Level

List any relevant plug-ins or scripts:
crochet

Good day,

Years ago I used Paint Shop Pro and used a script by Joske Backer for crochet which worked very good.
The results was amazing, also like a real crochet or even knitted effect.

I happily found the PSP script on my external drive. I can't find Joske's site anymore.

I myself have no experience in scripting and at age 68 don't think I will be able to do it myself.

Here is an image that came with the PSP script.

Do anyone know of something similar or even can make a free script for GIMP?
The zip is also included for PSP script.

Also included is an old freebie I made with the script in PSP so you can see the actual result it delivers.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thank you in advance,

Laura

Thank you, I got this and it works good. But sometimes I want to make scrapbook elements as the one I shared with more real wool effect. Otherwise I need to install PSP again and hope I can still use it after many years not used it. :)

Thank you for your trust, Sallyanne.
I did already sent to Laura some time ago a "knitting" filter, which was appreciated, but what she ask here is outside my possibilities.

Once GIMP is open.
Go to Edit > Preferences > Folders.
This should tell you the location of the Brushes Folder.
Place the .gih brush into this folder.
See the example image below.
I moved and added folders.
My folders will be different form the default gimp folder location.

Wallace, thank you for your help. I will look into it with the help from my friend Peter who uses Gimp more than myself.

You could copy the location for brushes shown within the preferences.
Then past the copied location into Windows RUN dialog box.
This will open Windows File Explorer to that location.
Then you can copy and paste brushes into that location.
This copy/past method can also be done within Windows File Explorer itself,
to open the location where brushes are stored.

Note: There is also a Browser Function within Preferences.
Where you can browse through files on your device.
Which can offers an opportunity to move files around.

Wallace, I tried now just very quick both the brushes. Brush 1 on flower and brush 2 on ground and "grass".

It works very well.

Is there an option to change it to 1 color also, i.e. green for leaves and another color for other single parts?
Maybe a setting needed? As in your GIMP CHAT gold look example above?

My knowledge of GIMP is very low as I am not using it much.

I like the directional effect it gives. It's very great brushes.

The color can be desaturated.
Which is what I did.

Then used Colorize to add back some color.
