Can't get curved text to work properly

Operating System: Windows
OS Version: Windows 10
GIMP Experience: New User

Hi, I'm relatively new to this software so I've been using some tutorials but I can't seem to get this curved text to work. Can someone help, please?

I hope these pictures show the problem I'm having. The text just goes all weird.

I hope these pictures show the problem I'm having. The text just goes all weird.

I think the path may be a bit too small for the text to follow.
Try extending the path to make it larger,
or make the text smaller to fit the path better.

Gimp 2.10.8 text-along-path no longer shoots off if the path is too short.

Really need a screenshot showing all the information. In particular the paths dialogue.

That leading Uppercase U in your image. Has that been modified in some way?
Looks strange. What is the name of the font?

edit: Ok had a good look at your screenshot, some sort of embellished Font. Probably the cause.

What font is that? Curious to know if my ofn-text-along-path script has the same problem.

I believe it's this font.

Nothing that I can find. This in Win10 / Gimp 2.10.8 Just in case it is a Windows thing.

Certainly needs a longer path and a bit of spacing helps - that is the left side.

Ofnuts plugin gives a better result for the U shape. - right side.

Back to wondering what baseline path is being used?
