I've grown to hate that python layer effects script. If you play with it a bit with preview etc then after that you cannot undo anything any more from that moment on in the image you're working in. Is that fixed yet?

I tend to do a save before using a filter that I may need to undo.

AAHHHHH

@PhotoMaster
Damn! How did you EXACTLY got your Script-Fu back?
I have here the DAMN SAME problem!
XPSP3 Gimp. 2.68 to 2.69 to 2.610 and I could do everything [several GIMP reinstalls],
nothing did work out.
I even posted this thing inside a GIMP-Dev board and someone told
me that sth. is probably wrong with GIMP Folder Linkage.

MANY, Thanks in Advance, my problem persists now for 1 Month!, Andreas_P

You miss a Script fu Menu or you can't use scripts

Doesn't solve the problem. The undo function of GIMP itself stops working after the python layer fx script.

I had no script-fu menu, and all of the default scripts were missing. I unistalled everything and reinstalled it 3 times. The third time truly is a charm, because I finally got it back. I have no clue how, but it's back. I have the script-fu and python-fu working. Now to find some good python filters/scripts for Gimp.

Thanks Muchly!!

Welcome to the Gimp Chat forums andreas_p! =)
I hope this will help you.Possibly you have to uninstall all Gimp versions, and reinstall a fresh Gimp 2.6.10 in its default install location.

May be a quick way to solve:
First to avoid confusion be sure to have only 1 gimp installed

Then with gimp closed go to C:Documents and Settings/YOURNAME/ and DELETE the "gimp" folder you will found there

and then reload gimp

GIMP will recreate the folder using the "factory default" settings; GIMP may prompt you for some preferences such as what language should be used.

Basically by deleting that directory, you have become a "new user" as far as GIMP is concerned. If GIMP doesn't find that directory when starting up, it assumes that this is the first time the user has run GIMP so it will configure things for that "new user" (in that user's home directory).

As Saulgoode wrote

My doubt is that a important path in preference/folder/script went accidentally deleted, remove the .gimp folder is the quicker way to reset everything

Note that Unistall Reinstall will not solve (Because unistall preserve that folder were the preference are stored )
