Is there anyway for Gimp to use Photoshop plugins?

I have tried pspi but the plugins either don't work or act funny. And on Gimp 2.8 it isn't doing much as it seems to forget my plugin directory when I reload Gimp.

I've got something called userfilter but it doesn't seem to do anything. I add my plugin directory to it and that's it.. can't do anything else with it.

Anything better than these two that actually work?

Yeah; PSPI has been pretty much broken for over a year now (still works for a few plugins). Your best bet is to use the python plugin Shellout which actually launches an external program like XNView for instance to run the PS plugin desired. This may not really be desireable, but, it works. See thread below for details; again thanks RobA. :)

Pspi still works for me, but things that work for everyone else don't work for me. I guess I'm just weird.

Works fine for me as well. Running in excess of 30 plugs or so.

Thank you!

So I am guessing that to better use the PS Plugs it is a better idea to use Shellout.py?

Not saying better Z; will say 100% more consistent and the preview screens are true. Still, I hate the delay that you get for running it. Glad that GML Matting, Impressionist, Paint Engine and a handful more of my PS plugins still work in GIMP. :)

Lyle, I'm tempted to install shellout but when I go to the link above there are 22 pages of comments, problems, tweaking and replacing issues dealing with command lines and still more issues with different systems. Since I'm using XP, Gimp 2.6.11, where do I go to get the right one for my system and what tweaks were finally decided on to make it work right?

Download the Shellout python module at the registry here Draconian. :)

Add the programs to it that you want to run.

Thanks Rod; should have linked to the file too; just felt that background info could be useful since a lot of things got ferreted out at that time as I recall. :)
