I have a question. I have Gimp 2.8 and I noticed that bevel and embossing and shadowing etc is all separated into different categories. I was wondering how I may combine them in script-fu like in 2.6?

There's a layer effects scm and a py version that has a bevel and emboss filter. You can get them from here: http://registry.gimp.org/node/186?page=1

No problem. A lot of scripts do allow you to keep layers rather than merging. If you choose this option you can remove the background layer. I don't know if layer effects has this.

LayerFX-2.8.py places the created effect within a group.
That allows you to access any part of the effect within it's own group.Or move it to another group however you see fit.

The old LayerFX.py kept the layers but not within their specific groups.

However for beveling real well i prefer DD's bevel python script/filter.
You can get that here

It's an excellent script - my preference too. :)

Is it my imagination or does the python version work better?

Ok thanks. I don't feel quite as crazy now. My wife and I just took a seminar on emotional first aid, we can use it where we volunteer. The down side is that it pointed out how nutty I am.
