I just downloaded Gimp 2.8 to my computer, and then downloaded the Gimp 2.8 help manual and followed the instructions about how to install the manual. So, now when I go into Gimp and click on help and go into the help manual, it does pull up the table of contents, but the screen says "Error Opening File: Invalid Argument". I am not super savy on computers, but was pretty such I followed instructions in Read Me file. Any suggestions on what I need to do?

that was regarding Samj help, that provided by Rod may have some difference , MEANING THAT THE NAME OF THE FILE(s) TO UNBLOCK MAY BE DIFFERENT, but the principle is the same , so the solution

there are only few files outside the help/en subfolder , just open their propriety and unblock as in the screenshoot on the linked page.

(the block is created automatically by 7 for executive files coming from other computers )

If you don't see a option to unblock the files in propriety may be something else do you have the help browser installed or you set your browser to open help pages ?

For the Mods:
i think this should be moved in the Help board

well if you don't know what is the help browser you don't have installed so go start gimp, go to Edit/Preferences/Help System
and there at "Help Browser to use " you chose " Help Browser" and you click ok

Can you tell me which DLL file you placed in the bin folder or plug-in folder?
I should probably re-write those instructions again.

i don't think is samj help but a package of rod with help browser +help files but is just my guess ,Monte didn't give the link

Here is the link that I copied the help files from. I finally gave up and am trying the adobe photoshop 10. Was just too frustrated. But thanks for all your help.
