today i tried to render a star in the gfig filter and suddenly couldn't change the width of the brush when stroking the star. this has never happened before when i've been using 2.8 and - as far as i remember - never while i still used 2.6. now the brush size seems to stay on something like 50 in gfig whatever changes i make in the brush settings box.

In GFIG you should be able to create a shape then select browse and choose a brush size/type.
I was not able to change the brush without making a shape first.

oh i make the star first, but suddenly i can't modify the brush size. i can modify aspect and spacing, but not size. and before this, if i didn't make any new settings from within gfig, it always just used my current brush settings and now it doesn't.

Are you able to change the brush itself?

i'll try to tell exactly what happens. i make the star. i click on browse and get the brush dialog box. in the box i can see all my brushes and pick the one i want. i can set mode, opacity and spacing (not aspect, like i said before), but i can't change size - there is no slider and no way to open up a slider.

No i always use a 1 or 2 pixel square brush with GFIG. :)
I believe there is no way to size the brush after selecting it.The stroke will change on the fly selecting a different size brush though.
I suggest creating the size brushes you need and just use them for GFIG.Maybe in a GFIG brush-set folder.

but i've never had this problem before! it's always worked, no need for a special set of brushes for gfig. if i wanted to stroke a star with a 1 pxl brush, i'd just set my brush size to one before i opened gfig and then change no settings from within the filter - that doesn't work all of a sudden and i had hoped i would at least be able to change the size from within gfig.

GFIG is a disaster... Doesn't even stroke the lines properly. Since I found shape-paths, I only use the latter.

ofnuts: and would you believe it, i've never got shape paths to work either! that's just laziness, though, in my experience python plugins that don't work at once take a lot of time fixing - so i don't. besides, i like gfig because it's so easy to work with - or was up til now.
