Hello,

I am wondering if it is possible to upload/open photos from other sources such as my photobucket or Flickr account to Gimp?

In Gimp I went to File > Open Location, but it wants a URI. I pasted in the URL to the photo I had on photobucket but all it did was open the webpage in my browser, not on Gimp. I am unfamiliar with what the URI would be for the image on photobucket.

I searched on this message board for any information on that and didn't see anything, so if anyone can point me to a thread that already discussed this, or has any knowledge of this, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Thanks,
Mel

What exactly are you putting into the location? Is it something that points directly to the image, or is it a .html

I just tried open an image directly from photobucket and it worked as expected using the photobucket Direct Link URL

you have to use the direct link that photobucket gives you for the image. not the URL in your browser page bar thingy

Thanks Kevin and Jam! That is what I was doing wrong - I was using the URL from my browser vs. the URL that comes with the image in photobucket. :)
