G'day,

I am pretty new to using GIMP. Only recently starting using it heavily about a week ago. I have been making some signs and am having a weird problem I just cant figure out.

I created my document, which has some text and a few pictures. When I export the document as a pdf some text gets moved around. When I export as a .png it seems to come out fine. This is not for every document Ive created only 2 so far.

Attached is a screen shot of (a screenshot) of my gimp window then the png then the pdf

Yeah, that third image is a png (of a pdf?)

What viewer do you use for pdf's. I recently came across differences in the output from different viewers. (but that was a pdf from Inkscape)

The other thing is, AFAIK Gimp does not embed a font in the pdf. So view on a machine that does have that font and a default replacement (usually Ariel) is used.

I would maybe use some other application or a virtual pdf printer to generate the pdf rather than Gimp.

openoffice export well as pdf and, maybe more relevant here, show them well.

but again maybe is better if you directly compose your pdf in openoffice

Gimp PDF output is primarily for images not text documents. I agree with others that OpenOffice or Scribus are better used for PDF documents. One thing you may want to try before you output to PDF use "New from visible" as your output layer.
