Has anyone had any luck using the B&W Border.scm? I have tried it several times and it is supposed to put a very fine black and white border around an image. I can't get it to go to the outside of the image, instead it just puts a border inside my image.

Have you tried expanding the canvas?
Edit,
I haven't tried it but just had a quick look at the registry. It looks like it needs a landing pad of some sort.

No, they seem to be all in one since I ran the script. Maybe the border isn't supposed to go to the outside edges, I don't know. If not, I guess I don't want it.

It's not suppose to go outside the image area, it need something to work on. A work around would be to expand your image the same size as your options in the script, run B&W Border, open your original image as your top layer?
Edit, That didn't work.

I don't understand what you are saying so I tried a different way. I opened an image, ran the script. I rounded the corners to 25. I then opened as layers the same image, then changed the mode to grain extract .

and Multiply

Good idea those came out pretty good. I experimented with the script a bit, when I expanded the canvas or layers I got some interesting results. I like the idea of the script, it's another one to play with.

Reading the script the border width and height refer to an 'inner border' not 'outer border' so the default settings of↓

Image

This will result in a black and white 'inner border' with a rounded white separation of 2 pixels

That is very nice Graechan.
So what does it do when you change the numbers border width and border height? Does that change the black and white part?

It's a very cool effect, I like the idea of using it to highlight the central area of a picture.

Molly that's correct changing border width and border height effects the amount of the black and white border

I's disappointing it doesn't recognize a selection

It's easy to modify so that it recognizes a selection instead of the borer width and height settings
I'll try and contact the author to see if he can implement

Just playing with B&W Borders script.

Image

1. Image > Canvas Size, w+40, h+40, center.
2. Layer to Image Size (red dots).
3. B&W Border script, bw20, bh20.

Odin That's a nice affect that should have been implemented into the script

I was playing around earlier and tried this out. With your suggestion earlier and this method the script could get pretty big. I'm sure it's doable though.

I don't know how you were able to make that oval selection Graechan. I tried making a selection and the script ignored it.

Odin, did you resize your image before you ran the script?

I am still playing around too. here is another small one.

oh, that looks like a neat script! i could use that for making instructional pictures when i write beadwork tutorials. and if the script could be modified to work on selections it would be more than excellent.

It's original image size, all done on one layer, canvas resize only, with Layer to Image Size before running the script. If you choose Resize layers in the Canvas resize dialog you save a step.

Nice one Molly, it's always fun to play :bigthup

I did one without the script (like my last one), a little more control with this type of frame.
