ALC59.

That is perfect but if you could get the musical note with the peformer in the colours of black and red that would be perfect. and take away the lights from inside the box.

Hey, guys.

Theatre logos are usually very simple. B&W or duotone like the one down here

why don't we start with something real simple

The one alc did was perfect for what we want to stand for. just minus the lights. and the multicolour nights nd guy, with black nd red colors instead and maybe a circular back ground. like a badge kind of. and the drama faces in coming out the box also I appreciate all this help your doing guys and you guys are lifesavers. I am now a 100% gimp fan.

Not sure how much black/red you want, if you open the xcf and right click on the (e) layer- alpha to selection- and use the blend tool you can make it how you want it

That is exactly how I wanted it. The founder Elizabeth Bialyk thanks you all personally for taking the time.

One last request alc59. and then it will be the logo probably. if you can get rid of the curtains and put the drama faces coming out the box and the background more compact as a circular logo badge with it inside? just a bit smaller. Please i would love you for a life time haha

alc59: that's great work on all your contributions!
moorhouse: that's a nice logo design - since you have the idea, why don't you try making it yourself? it shouldn't be hard, you can use alc:s readymade background and his jumping figure and notes - then you'd have to draw a box, but tracing your design from the picture with the paths tool is simple. next step would be finding the right font, which can be tricky, but perhaps lemondrop or paek lane at dafont.com.

If you are using windows then broadway is a good font for theatre production.

That's the problem I have no idea how to use gimp properly as I only downloaded it this morning. If anyone could do this it would be a great help and I will try to do it also myself. Can anyone give that a last attempt for me?

Just a thought on fonts, this broadway one isn't free, that's one thing, plus I'm not sure about royalties issues. Lawyer here ? ;)

And one very important thing that someone said before you have to redo any bitmap logo made here in vectors (and gimp can't do vectory) or else you won't be able to print those various size you need for shirts, postcards, flyers and so on.

I've always had the Broadway font on any window computer I've ever owed or worked on and never had to pay to download it, so I assumed that as it was a windows default font then the useage of said font would also be free.

A couple of things to consider here is that the logo will need to be large, at least 2048px and perhaps larger, for poster size prints. Otherwise, it's going to look pixelated when you blow it up to print a hi-res banner/poster.

Another suggestion is to change the colors scheme on the website. There isn't nearly enough contrast between the text and the background. If you're going to use a black background, you really need much lighter text. As it stands now, the site is practically unreadable. At least with my eyes, on my monitor. :blind

According to crosoft https://www.microsoft.com/typography/fonts/
This broadway (there are many) font is no part of winxp nor win7. One question last though, I don't know if a font license applies to some letters (a logo) or some text (document) or both.

Second this, the first thing I've done when I saw the out of the box website is highlight the text to be able to read it. Besides, raising the font-size would help, 16px for instance:

p, table, .n {
    font-size: 16px;
}

Still, I think you should investigate on the legal side, main question is are you allowed to use it and under what circumstances.
