MS-Electricity

Hi!

It's been a while! A long while ... life is weird without getting to much into complication! Although I do peek in from time to time to see what neat things are going on here! =)

I need a little refresher on how to use the alpha-to-logo when it's approached from the Filters->Alpha-to-Logo rather then File->Create->Logos.

For this one I put some text on an alpha layer with a transparent background. Ran the MS-Electric script from the Filters->Alpha-to-Logo and it did something but produced nothing. I fiddled around with the setting on the filter and still nothing.

I remember I did this along time ago and I mean years ago! I should have written it down in my ratty notebook!

So if somebody could kindly school in me this this again .. I'd greatly appreciate it! :tyspin

mrbiggz: doesn't the filter need a selection to work on?

I did that .. alpha to selection. I remember that part .. there's something missing. Can't think what it is though!

you said alpha to logo on your first post, is that what you meant?

Yeah .. I think I left the part out where I wanted to say alpha to selection.

Gimp Docs - How to use Alpha-to-Logo

I should have looked at this first .. so .. I guess I'm not understanding the filters settings.

I'll have to plug along some more ..

I did this in Gimp 2.8.4 (my build of course :) )

File -> New -> default template.

Clicked on Text and typed my Text.

Then Filter -> Alpha to logo - > Glowing Hot ...

and got the expected result.

Lots of Youtube videos out there to show you how to do this.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Partha,

I tried a few other script and they work .. maybe .. it's this MS-Electricity script then. Cause I did it like the GIMP doc says and the results are bumpkist. I used everything from the default setting to the extremes on both ends and in the middle.

Meh! :gaah

You are probably right. I am almost positive it's this MS-Electricity script. Where did you get it? :)

Is not a new layer created when you run the script? Note that the blend mode of the created layer is Addition, so it will have no effect on the resulting image if your background is white. Also, the default values for the filter seem to produce a very slight effect.
