Hi all, first time user of GIMP so experience is non-existent.

There is an icon set I want to use for a website - entypo

On the site you can download a PSD file that contains all the icons.

What I can to do is change the background to a specific colour, change the icons from black to white and then cut each one out as a circular icon to use on my site. That make sense?

Anyway, I've not idea where to start. I've spent that last hour watching youtube videos and searching for how to do this but I cant figure it out.

Suggestions/instructions?

Thanks!

To change the color from black to white, you could go to colors invert but there are so many ways to do the things you are asking, a person wouldn't know where to start.
After you have made 5 posts you could upload your projects and we can give you some ideas where to start and answer any questions you have once we see what you are aiming at.

I would put the icon on a transparent background. Then select around the icon and invert, cut. Then color select the part you want to change the color of, and bucket fill with the new color. It's sort a beginner's way to do it, but it should work ok.
